Von Wielligh Day Hospital and Sessional Drs Suites
  • LOCATION| , Johannesburg CBD, Gauteng, South Africa
  • PROJECT VALUE| R±40 000 000.00

The client approached TAG to look at designing a Day Hospital facility in one of their building earmarked for upgrade, the facility will act as a central hub for all their other facilities allowing less critical procedures to be outsourced to the day hospital. The day hospital also serves as a step down facility if needed. This will assist the Hospitals group risk management strategy to ensure beds are always available in their key care facilities for patients in critical condition.

The Day hospital has been designed to function independently, providing beautifully designed doctors consult suites, for doctors to send patients directly into the Day Hospital for all minor procedures. Having the Day Hospital linked to the Theatres, patients can recover after minor surgery whilst receiving the same level of care they would in a private hospital.

Due to the location of the Day hospital in the CBD, the facility provides a urgently needed facility for doctors in the surrounding area to treat and care for their patients, reinforcing the Clinix Healthcare group philosophy  that through the sense of caring you create a sense of community… a notion greatly needed in the diverse community that makes the CBD their home.

Tying in with the Hospitals groups goals of being an independent facility to service the community, the Day Hospital has its own theatre complex, with 3x theatres. A 36 Day bed facility split on 2 levels with 4 separate nursing stations. This was done to not only split patients based on special needs but assist the Day Hospital from a management and efficiency perspective. The Day Hospital facility has a separate independent Xray department that services the Day hospital and doctors, a separate renal facility and soon its own retail pharmacy. In addition to all the above, the Facility will have an independent coffee shop that will serve the patients and family while waiting.

The success in answering the clients brief, lies in the efficiency and pragmatic approach adopted in the design of the building and spaces, leaving the patients with a sense of recovery with state of the art care.
